I have a love for books and also a weird attraction to “developmental toys.” I could have been one of those Discovery Toys salespeople or a Learning Express Toy Store Owner! I am most attracted to toys that I know the kids can use their imagination and play with over and over.
For Younger Kids:
- Playmobil
- Thomas Trains
- Diecast Cars
- Little People
- Animal figurines
- Knight figures
- Swords
- Pretend Tool Set
- Cash Register
- Play Kitchen and Dishes Set
We have also enjoyed a variety of toys which offer material for creative construction.
- Tinker Toys
- Legos
- Superstructs
- Wooden Blocks
- Magnetic Shapes
- Puzzibits (or hexabits)
- Straws and Connectors
- Magnetic Rocks
- Perler Beads
- Pop Beads
- Flexeez
And as our kids have grown older, these have been a few of our more recent favorite games and toys. They are most memorable to enjoy as a family, but a couple are great for independent play.
- Blokus
- Rush Hour
- Boggle
- Ball of Whacks
- Tangoes
- Scrabble Apple
- Quoridor
- Pentago
- Blink
- Quirkle
- Othello
- Risk
