Dream Big

Don’t stop dreaming! I have some pretty incredible friends who have gone after some big dreams in life. (One of them just launched a new brand of amazing shoes for young women this week!) And I personally feel like our own life is one big dream. We would all say that every bit of courage or struggle was worth it to see those dreams come true.

But I have these little stars above my bed leftover from a recent Girls Writing Workshop as a constant reminder to KEEP dreaming, and to dream BIG. Life gets too mundane and small if we don’t. And it can quickly becomeĀ about just us. Our day. Our routine. Our comfort.

Blah.

There’s more to life than that. More impact and love to spread around.

It’s not always intuitive for some people like me to DREAM BIG – I think others may have been born with a special bent for that! But no matter, we can stretch and grow and choose to make it a natural part of our fiber as well.

I’m going after new big dreams these days, and looking for others who want to dream big with me! If you’re going to dream anyway, why not dream big! šŸ˜‰

Managing a Digital Business

FullSizeRender 6

Don and I have worked with business owners around the country for years, helping them to grow their business through strategy and sales and marketing systems. Creating and executing systems around prospecting, nurturing, follow-up, closing and servicing is most important but can be challenging.

However, a few simple habits along with a commitment to a set of basic digital tools can help you be most effective in growing your business. It also affords you the luxury of working from anywhere! We prioritize fun and adventure as a family, and so we like systems that allow us the freedom and efficiency in order to play a lot!

We choose to use Google Apps to manage our business. Here are a few tips you may find helpful:

Google Contacts

Your contact list is your biggest asset, so treat it accordingly. Take some time over a weekend and do a “deep clean,” to make sure it is updated. If you are missing a new cell number, physical address or email and are connected to them via Facebook or Instagram, reach out for the info and make sure to update it right away. Ā Delete those names of people you just can’t seem to remember.

Keep your contact list useful. One of the best ways to do this is choose a few simple groupings to organize them. And then each day, spend a few minutes reviewing your lists. Who do you need to reach out to? Who should you add to your Prospect list? Star 5 contacts that you want to connect with today and then reach out with a phone call, a relevant article, a valuable referral, or even a surprise gift. Be creative in the ways you add value to people’s lives.

Google Calendar

The critical piece of any sale is a conversation in person. It’s important to dialogue to build trust and genuinely seek to discover the areas you can help.

Sometimes it works to just pick up the phone and call someone randomly, but most people do not like to be interrupted these days by phone. One young consultant from England shared humorously that her first thought when she gets a phone call is, “Is someone dead!? Did someone die?!” That’s the severity of a call to some people!

Better to try and text/email first and thenĀ schedule a phone call, Zoom call, or coffee date. Google Calendar works beautifully and syncs with all your devices. You can set it to automatically send a reminder right before the meeting. This keeps your interactions professional and also allows you both to set aside the time and attention to really focus on the product or opportunity at hand.

Be thorough in your calendar invite description – add the location and address or personalize the Zoom invitation and add any necessary attachments. Make it easy for your guest to have the info they need for the meeting.

Then deliver a killer presentation that genuinely connects, and make sure to follow up with an email summarizing your main point and next step. This keeps the ball in your court and moves the sale along.

Google Drive

We are paperless as a business and family. I use Google Drive to store all of my important documents, and I have a special folder for resources that I need to share easily with other consultants or prospects. I have the App on my phone for easy access as well.

Google Tasks

You can use Google Tasks as your “brain dump” to remember those random ideas that come to mind or things you’d like to do one day. But it’s best to also have a list or two that is very functional and that you can commit to. I have a “Daily” list as well as “Important” among others. I appreciate the “GoTasks” App also that syncs with my phone so I can access my lists from anywhere.

These powerful tools really do work to give you business results. However, your commitment and consistency will be what really determines your success with them. For some people, organizing and maintaining these systems is natural and easy. For others, it’s more challenging because of their personality and bent. We’ve found it very helpful to walk people through a Strength’s Test and Consultation so they can better understand their tendencies, and we can offer creative solutions that fit their style. Would be happy to share more if interested!

Change Breakfast

Not everyone who chooses to commit to the 30 Days to Healthy Living Program with Arbonne jumps in all at once. Our friend, Json Marruffo was approaching 40 and wanted to cross that milestone with great health and energy, but was feeling pretty crappy when we connected with him last year about this time. He was always tired, not sleeping well, overweight, and on-the-go. He knew he wanted to make a change but was skeptical of just another fad diet scheme.

We started sharing with him about this special program with Arbonne and suggested that he start with one simple new habit. Change breakfast. Start the day with a healthy vegan protein shake, and see if you can keep that up for 30 days.

He did, and the rest is history. After a month and a half of that habit, he was able to jump in more easily to the full 30 Days Program, and even did a second month to achieve greater results. Overall he’s lost almost 50 pounds, and has a new normal based on new healthy habits.

We interviewed him tonight and got the full, behind-the-scenes scoop on the thought processes along his journey. We had been walking with him every step of the way, but it was still neat for us to hear how much the support meant to him – from us, his family, his colleagues and the Private Facebook Group.

Some things from his story that may be helpful if you are considering this program:

Start small – If you don’t feel like you’re up for a handful of new habits, start with breakfast. Keep it simple. Fill your Vegan Arbonne Protein shake with spinach, frozen berries, chia seeds, and fiber, and get your day started right.

DecideĀ – Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? It’s time to commit. Decide that this is going to be your “harajuku moment” and don’t look back. Make a change that you want to stick with for the long haul.

Garner Support – We can’t do this alone. Arbonne’s 30 Days program inherently has the support from the consultant who invited you as well as the Facebook Group Facilitator and hundreds of others doing around the country doing it with you. But it’s also wise to solicit support from those closest to you. Your family, especially. Json got his family on board, and his kids were surprised that healthy food could taste so good!

Surprise Yourself – Some of the surprising byproducts of the program for Json included: dinner time prep conversations with his kids, no more snoring, colleagues becoming inspired and more mindful of eating healthy, and an overall sense of just feeling great! All of those things were even better benefits than the weight loss! You never know all the symptoms that may be remedied by just eating organic, real foods and staying away from the nutrient-weak convenient foods and cleansing your body of a long-term build up of toxins.

I loved what Json said about where he’s at today: “When you’re driving a Beamer, you don’t want to go back to driving a Jalopy!” #gethealthy #stayhealthy

If this is something that sounds interesting to you, let me know, and I’d love to share more info and help get you started.

Before and After

Fun to think about our family’s health journey before and after Arbonne!

Before

One of the things I’ve always cared about throughout my adult years was eating healthy foods, especially as we started raising our own family. When I was pregnant with my first child, my mom sent me some cassette tapes on healthy eating (yes, cassette tapes, and our car actually could play them!). We listened to them as we drove cross-country from Texas to South Carolina for business in 2001.

That information on eating organic foods and staying away from processed foods really helped start our family on a good path. We read box labels to stay away from theĀ big dangers like “partially hydrogenated soybean oil,” and “high fructose corn syrup.” But somehow sugar still remained, especially for little treats and celebrations.

We’re a very active family. My husband ran cross-country and track in college, and I’ve always loved running as a means to stay in shape. I would use it as a way to monitor my weight. But needless to say, having three kids within 4.5 years took my body through a roller coaster in weight gain and loss. And because of my plantar fascitis, it was hard to run long enough to keep the weight off!

We have three kids who all have various food allergies and sensitivities. My husband is half-Korean, and I’m Hispanic, so I feel like some of it is genetic, some of it environmental, but their allergies helped me further explore other dairy-free, gluten-free options throughout their younger years. But it was difficult to find recipes and consistent food options and really stick it out.

Fast-forward now about 10 years.

After

I heard about Arbonne’s 30 Days to Healthy Living Program from a dear friend of mine a couple years ago. It is a clean eating program that helps start great habits of removing dairy, gluten, and sugar from our regular diet; eat fresh, fruits and vegetables and healthy proteins often; and gently cleanse some of the toxins from our system. They offer an online support system, and a 4 week meal plan, complete with recipes and even grocery lists!

I’d always wanted to try something like this, and so just jumped in for a month by myself. The family enjoyed most of the dinner meals. We watched documentaries together like FedUp which talks about the dangers of refined sugar in America, and that changed our sugar habits forever! I really stuck to the program religiously and got to see great results in weight loss and muscle tone, and overall just felt great!

My husband jumped in with me for a second month, and he followed the program diligently as well, and lucky duck, he lost 15+ pounds! With him on board, it made it much easier going forward to maintain a GF/DF/SF (sugar free) diet as a whole family since we could choose recipes and restaurants that would suit those needs together.

My son, Isaac is the one who has the most allergies, and so he was independently motivated to start removing gluten and dairy for himself. He said it made his stomach feel better. And just by doing that (in addition to the sugar of course), he lost 20 pounds of extra weight. He looks like a new kid, and like us, has been able to keep off that weight for over a year!

I’m so grateful for the education and habits that this program offered our family. I feel like we are different from the inside-out and are never going back. It’s catalyzed us in a new direction forever. We continue to use and love Arbonne’s products and share them with other friends and family members. They’ve also come to love them and see the benefits for their family for the long-haul. We all appreciate Arbonne’s commitment to products that are pure, safe, and beneficial.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this program, want to lose some extra weight, decrease bloating and inflammation, sleep better, and have extra energy for our busy days, please contact me, and I’d love to connect with you to share more.
