Dalrymple Family

Walking in freedom, joy, peace and love.

Our family has been on a difficult journey since 2020, dealing with mental health challenges for our children including mania, depression, paranoia, psychosis, hospitalization, disordered eating, and anxiety. We have explored many different treatment options looking for paths of healing. I’m often asked about them, so I wanted to consolidate these resources to make it easy to reference. Please share with anyone who may be interested, and reach out anytime with questions.

Medical Practitioners – Getting to the Roots

Dr. Kendal Stewart

Dr. Stewart is a godsend. He specializes in neuroimmune issues which can include anxiety, depression, seizures, Alzheimers, bipolar diagnoses, and MUCH more. He looks at your genetic test – which is just a cheek swab – and he can let you know how your body handles inflammation, methylation, detoxification, etc. to get to the real roots of what’s going on in your body. He is our number one recommendation and many of our friends and family have seen great results from him as well. Located in Austin TX, but offers telehealth for some states.

chris palmer

Dr. Chris Palmer

Dr. Chris Palmer is a Harvard Professor, and his book Brain Energy came out at the same time as Isaac’s first manic episode. We listened to him on the Tim Ferriss and Andrew Huberman Podcasts, and his new insights on metabolic health and ketogenic diets impact on mental illness gave us hope for alternative solutions to psychiatric medication. Here is MH2, where mental health meets metabolic health. The Metabolic Mind is another website and initiative with amazing stories.

erin kerry

Erin Kerry

Author, functional medicine practitioner, and nutrition counselor, Erin has walked the journey. She says: I was medicated for bipolar disorder for 18 years. Ten years ago, I went off anti-psychotic medication. Eight years ago, I weaned off my remaining medication, an SSRI antidepressant. Great encouragement from her story! And check out her new book, Live Beyond Your Label.

More on DNA – Epigenetics

kashif kahn

Kashif Kahn

You can also get a DNA test done (again, just a cheek swab) through the DNA company. We’d suggest paying for the personalized consultation, as the summary notebook they send you about yourself can be overwhelming without a clear path for action or supplements.

Gary Brecka

Gary Brecka is a human biologist and co-founder of 10X Health Systems. You can hear his interview with Joe Rogan here for more info. He is also a bold advocate for getting your genetic labs done for simple solutions and profound impacts on preventing chronic disease.

Calley and Casey wrote Good Energy and were recently on the Joe Rogan podcast (a MUST listen). They have a bipartisan platform that exposes Big Pharma and the industrial food complex and the importance of metabolic health and its impact around obesity, Alzheimers, and mental illness, and they are passionate about helping individuals find true health again. Eating real foods and exercising are ESSENTIAL to overall health for people of all ages.

Great Health Supplements

Importance of Walking

Don’s blood pressure spiked right after Covid to 150/80, and he did not want to get on medication. He researched the best things to do, and found that if you walk 20 minutes right when you wake up and 10-20 minutes after each meal, you can lower your insulin levels, inflammation, blood pressure, and impact many other critical systems in your body, including your mood and peace of mind. We RARELY miss a walk. Just ask our friends πŸ˜‰ Try it. It will change your life.

ION Gut Support

This ION product contains humic acid, which has soooo many health benefits for us – antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immune boosting, detoxing, promote growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut…Isaac just takes one teaspoon 3x/day, and we’ve noticed a great improvement in overall mood!

Energy Bits

This is just chlorella and spirulina in pellet form, but check out their website that explains all their benefits!

LMNT

We live at 10,000 ft altitude in Breckenridge, CO, and so hydration is a big deal. Whether we are working out at the gym, playing tennis, or hiking, LMNT is our go-to electrolyte supplement. We have a monthly subscription of Raspberry and Lime, but everyone has their personal favorites! These are equally beneficial in the hot, humid cities of Texas! πŸ™‚ I found that when we were really stressed, we were burning through magnesium, and these helped SOOOOO much!

Spiritual Resources

soul care

Soul Care by Dr. Rob Reimer

We are spiritual beings, and so our trauma, emotional wounds, bitterness, and belief about ourselves, God, and others impact how we experience life. This is the best book we can recommend to walk through internal healing for your soul and spirit. Make sure to find a conference to attend after you read it/work through the book. And all of his books are fantastic!

Healed From Bipolar – Jacqueline’s Story

We were always on the lookout for stories of hope, and this one really spoke to us of Jacqueline’s story of healing through prayer and the presence, love, and wisdom of Jesus. Dieter Mulitze has many, many stories of healing of mental illness through prayer.

Bethel Church – Healing Rooms

We traveled to Bethel Church in Redding California for a whole weekend with Isaac and experienced great encouragement and hope. If you visit, make sure to sign up for their individual prophetic sessions on Friday night, healing room on Saturday, and services on Sunday morning and evening. You will encounter the love and power of the Lord. We listen to their podcasts every single week.

Hold on to Hope by Nicole Marbach

This book sat in my bathroom for months, and just seeing the cover and title reminded me to hold on to hope when we were in the middle of our hardest days without any answers. This author shares her story of struggling deeply through manic episodes and addictions, etc. and how the Lord healed her and restored her family.

Living Fearless by Jamie Winship

I first heard of Jamie Winship from a dear friend, Taylin who shared a series of four podcasts with me that ultimately became this book. And then Jennie Allen also interviewed for 3 podcasts here: 1, 2, 3. He helps us get clear about our identity which is soooo foundational when walking through mental health. Order the book here. And his Guided Journal, too! And here are two other awesome podcast with him.

Our friend James Denman shared about the Daily and Nightly Prayers by John Elderedge, and we prayed them consistently every single day to focus our hearts on the love of God, power of the blood of Jesus, and the protection from evil. These are priceless. We also took communion together almost every night. Here’s a great video from Bill Johnson on that.
